Peeptini
The day before the party, choose your martini recipe and the peeps to match. Stick a few of the peeps in the booze in order to get that artificial color and sugary goodness infused into the ethanol beverage. At partytime, serve the martinis garnished with fresh peeps!

Internet is right now mocking Memorial tract - hurry before taken down by BORG. Here is the link
by BluePill2 inremember the guys that started the shit storm with the deaf sign language video?
the multiple funny versions at youtube?.
this time they are mocking the tract (the guy that started this isn't even a ex-jw, but they are pretty good at taking down cults!).

Congregation had to relocate Memorial...thanks to me
by Shepherd Book inso, the two local congregations were planning to hold their memorial together at 7:30 at the local community center, but they had to make a last-minute change to their own hall, and i'm pretty sure it was because of me.. let me explain.... at work on monday afternoon, a co-worker returned from her lunchbreak and showed me the memorial invitation that was waiitng in her door when she went home for lunch.
i noticed the sticker on the back indicated the memorial was being held, not at the local hall, but at the community center.
from a past (non-jw) event i attended there, i knew they didn't allow alcohol (unless you pay for security guards), so i wrote to the center's coordinator:.

It really is a puzzle why they didn't just get a security guard. I would guess that there was some internal BoE battle of wills that played into this.

Welcome!
"I told them that I did not know if the truth was for me,"
Along with the good advice you've already gotten here, you need to distinguish "truth" from JW teachings. As much as they like to say they are "the truth", they are not. It was the search for truth that directed us away from continuing enslaved to WT.

New member says hey
by jay dubless ini have lurked now and then, just decided to join.. my older brother and i were raised by our jw mom, but our dad was a non-practicing catholic.
so we went to the hall, but were considered "weak" witnesses, since our family still celebrated xmas and birthdays, to appease my dad i suppose.
as a kid, i loved these holidays.. anyways, when my brother was 17 (i was 13), he spent a few weeks with our cousins in ky, who are all gung-ho j-dubs, and upon his return, he decided he was going to be more "theocratic".

Welcome! Sorry to hear that your brother is still being tricked by the corporation.

LaidOff Bethelites: Weeping And Gnashing of Teeth
by metatron indon't let any of the watchtower's propaganda deceive you.
i encountered some private conversations among witnesses about the subject and it's ugly.
yes, there is suffering as many of these victims try to live on charity and can't find jobs in the worst economy since the depression.. some of their private observations include shock that you need a college degree for nearly any job and that the watchtower society couldn't have picked a worse time to do this to them .. all the while these complaints are discussed, i try not to show that i am astounded by their bizarre "logic".

"I hope Billy's situation has improved?"
I haven't been inside a KH in about a year and a half. I didn't get invited to the memorial this year, but still visit my parents frequently and am closer to my siblings than ever.
Just over a year from now, I'll have my engineering degree.
So my situation has greatly improved! I still have a lot to learn and need to expand my social circle and involvement in "worldly" activities. But finishing the degree is job #1.

"its like a marriage contract, between a husband and wife. the children are not part of the relationship, but benefit from it."
They always have to add an illustration to whitewash over something not in the Bible. For a marriage contract, there is a public ceremony and plenty of proof of the marriage. But with the GB, all you get is "their word" that Jesus is in a special covenant with them.
Paul said that the head of the man is Christ. There was never any room for the type of clergy that the GB and WT corp has constructed.

A Memorial First
by truth_b_known ini've been out for a good solid 7 years.. last night was the 2nd memorial in a row i did not attend.. this year's memorial was the 1st time i did not receive an invitation or a visit or a phone call from anyone asking me to attend.. in fact, i didn't even realize it was last night until i got on this website this morning.. it feels great!.

I visited my parents recently and the memorial didn't even get a mention. No invitations littering the entryway of my apartment building this year either. I thought maybe they were relying on everyone visiting JW.org for an invitation.
